It seems that no one is exempted from stress these days. Adults, seniors, and even kids seem to experience stress these days.

What then is stress? By definition, “stress” is a feeling that’s created when we react to a specific event. It’s the body’s way of reacting to a challenge and preparing to meet a tough situation with focus, strength, stamina, and heightened alertness. This kind of thing is normal, but to experience stress for a long period of time can be devastating to the body and mind.

Ongoing or long term stress events, like coping with a death of a love one, financial downfall, or the loss of a job, can cause long-term stress. Long-term stressful situations can even severely harm the body. It can weaken one’s immune system, thus leading to more serious health problems.

What is the best way to relieve one from the harmful effects of stress?

* Don’t panic, just believe that every problem has a solution.

* Always when facing a problem – face it with positive attitude.

* Talk about it with your family or your partner. Two heads are always better than one.

* If a solution is possible, then plan how you accomplish it. If after a long brainstorming session, not one good solution comes up, then relax your mind and pray. I am sure a new light will come the next day, and you might just be surprise everything will be fine.

* Learn how to relax and take things in stride.

* Do what you enjoy best.

* Actually outdoor activities can be a good way to relieve one’s body from stress. Go back and be with nature, and you will feel free and alive. If one can’t go out because the weather does not permit it, then you can do some physical thing inside the house.

* Any form of exercise will be good for the body. Exercise and eating healthy foods is best. If you can go on a meatless diet and go for vegetarian diet, then it could be much the better for your health.

* Lead a healthy lifestyle that is free from smoking and drinking alcohol. Such vices only contributes to your stress level in the body.

* Learn to adopt a healthy diet. Eating well will prepare your body to function at its best.

* Have a positive outlook in life. Your outlook, attitude towards life influence the way you think and decide on things around you. Always remind yourself that there is always a positive element in every negative situation. Train yourself to find the positive and stick on it.

* Last, but not the least of all, is nurturing your spiritual life. A lot of people might just take this for granted, but if you look at it this, it might just be the one perfect solution to all of your problems. If you are spiritually strong, then expect to have full control of all aspects of your life. The Bible seems to be the most unknown book today, when in-fact it is the most powerful one, for it brings forth life to all. Saturate one’s mind with biblical wisdom and life is easier to cope, thus making it stress free.
