Why Head Games Cause Stress

Yesterday we said ‘mind games, not head games’. But it boils down to more than just relaxation versus stress. Head games is the source of stress for a lot of people so it is behooves us to understand just what it is about head games that causes stress.

First, the obligatory definition. The word “head game” has been used to signify a particular type of deception. When people use psychological illusion or deception to “get into the mind” of others or to toy with someone else’s emotions, that is a head game. While some people can handle the stress better than others, there is no doubt that head games do cause stress. And it’s not natural.

Any time the human body or mind experiences two opposing sensations it creates stress. It often is a harmless form of acute stress, but prolonged it can lead to chronic stress.

Emotional and psychological head games have a tendency to drive people’s nerves in two different directions. A person can feel one emotion one minute then a completely different sensation the next. And there is another person pulling the strings. It can cause someone to feel used and objectified. The mind knows this is an injustice and it leads to anger and shame.

If you find yourself a victim of head games often and needing to relieve yourself of the stress that comes after, get in touch with a stress relief method that is designed for putting the mind at ease. Don’t let it continue.
